Today a tour company from Rotorua came to fetch us at our Haka House backpacker to do a hike around and into the crater of Mount Tarawera. In 1886 there was a big eruption of this vulcano and everything changed. The sinter terasses disappeared, a village was burried and a big crater was created. We were a small group: Me, Mike and a mum with her 18-year-old daughter. They were Germans.
